International Shipping Analysis

 

The problem

When reviewing our monthly 3PL invoice, I noticed extremely expensive international shipping charges. In many cases, customers were not paying nearly enough to cover their shipping costs and we were bleeding money on international orders.

Setting up the analysis

  1. Exported the last 3 months of 3PL international shipping charges.

  2. Coded each 3PL charge with its associated order number and shipping country.

  3. Exported Shopify data to understand the value and weight of each order.

  4. Analyzed the 3PL shipping charge as a percentage of order value and order weight per each international country.

The solution

Using average shipping charges based on tiers of order value per country, I came up with recommended shipping price changes. I implemented these changes in Shopify, so that customers are paying a better reflection of what we are charged for their order.

Marketing KPI Dashboard

 

The problem

Our team did not keep track of any KPIs or other marketing reporting.

Setting up the dashboard

  1. For each channel, I track revenue, spend, and conversions every month. From these metrics, I set up the dashboard to automatically calculate ROAS, AOV, CAC, and contribution margin using formulas.

  2. Each paid channel is averaged in a paid channel summary.

The solution

Now, we are able to cut what’s not working, optimize for what is working, see changes over time, and ultimately make better decisions about our marketing spend.
